Vote for Change Tour Finale Scheduled
09/17/04

The star-studded finale of the Vote for Change tour has been nailed down for Oct. 11 at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C., reports Billboard Online.

Thirteen acts from the trek will be on hand at the finale, including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Dave Matthews Band, John Mellencamp and the Dixie Chicks.

The four-hour bill will be rounded out by Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, John Fogerty, Jurassic 5, Keb' Mo' and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday via Ticketmaster.

"We all wanted to come back together for a finale show after we had finished our separate tour dates," said Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard. "We thought our nation's capital seemed like the most ideal place to do that."

"This finale concert will clearly be a historic event, and we're honored and grateful to be presenting it with so many world-renowned artists," said Eli Pariser of MoveOn PAC, which is sponsoring the trek. "After four years of deficits, layoffs and war, this call for new leadership will signal to millions of Americans that on November 2, they need to get out and vote for change."

The Vote for Change tour kicks off Oct. 1 in Pennsylvania and will visit 36 cities in 12 presidential election swing states.
