2016 marks ten years from the Dixie Chicks last studio album Taking The Long Way and also signifies a shift in the direction of the band. When looking for a producer for the album, Natalie, Emily & Martie went for a very non-conventional choice, at least when you consider their previous work.
We are so saddened to hear about the passing of Glenn Frey. The Eagles have been a big musical influence for us, and on a more personal level, supporters of our music and what we're about. We had the honor of playing many shows with them and getting to know Glenn a little beyond just being a fan. On stage he was a leader, a perfectionist, and the consummate musician. Off stage he was a family man and philanthropist who cared about people and community. Mahalo Glenn.

What part of the country do you live in?
I live in Texas and split my time between Dallas and Dayton, OH because I am in the Air Force Reserve.
What are your top 3 favorite things to do?
I love anything and everything that involves being at the beach or on the ocean. I love traveling and spending time with my family and close friends.
What do you do for a living?
I am a pediatric cardiovascular intensive care nurse and a flight nurse in the Air Force Reserve. I love my jobs:)
How many times have you seen Dixie Chicks live?
I’ve seen the beautiful ladies live 5 times.
Tell us what it means to you to be a fan of DCX?
It means a great deal to me to be a long time DCX fan and I tell people very proudly how excited I am that the ladies are finally doing a US tour. The way that the ladies supported each other and continue to support each other speaks volumes to their characters and that means a lot to me. I appreciate their voice and what they stand for on and off the stage. Their music speaks to my soul and is attached to so many memories.
How do you show your fandom?
I am a member of the Three Maineskateers and we usually have shirts made to wear to the concerts or wear DCX shirts. I also may or may not have tweeted a few hundred random people about this upcoming tour after Natalie said they would be touring next summer. I support the projects that the ladies have been a part of during the hiatus. Pretty much anything that allowed me to hear their voices since the hiatus, I supported. I also tell anyone and everyone that will listen the story of how I, and the Maineskateers, got to meet the ladies. Anytime anyone rides with me or walks by my desk, they hear the Chicks’ music.
What in your mind makes the Dixie Chicks stand out from any other band?
Their talent is second to none in the industry, and that is why I love seeing them live. They are definitely trailblazers not only in country music but in other genres as well. I have met other celebrities and I’ve never encountered any that treat their fans the way the ladies treat us.
What currently is the most played song in your music library?
The Long Way Around (Preview/Download)
What’s your favorite song from Dixie Chicks and why?
I have so many favorites that it’s hard to pick just one. I fly a lot so Wide Open Spaces holds a very special place in my heart. Top Of The World reminds me to always make sure that the ones I love never doubt my love for them. My dad passed away 2 years ago and he was my Easy Silence in this hectic world and the fact that Natalie dedicated it to me and one of my fellow Maineskateers pretty much made my life! The Long Way Around is my life’s theme song and is one of the ringtones on my phone. Not Ready To Make Nice is my absolute favorite song to hear them sing live. Because of the times we are living in now, The Neighbor, moves me to tears whenever I hear it.
What is your favorite album from Dixie Chicks and why?
Taking The Long Way is my favorite album so far (fingers crossed for more albums) because of the raw emotion heard in the music and everything that surrounded that album.
How do you stay connected with your favorite artists?
Well twitter is by far the best way to stay connected to the Chicks and the fact that they don’t have handlers to manage their accounts is awesome! Instagram is also a good tool to get a glimpse into their lives. I love that Natalie is starting to use instagram more frequently.
What’s your favorite piece of DCX memorabilia?
My favorite memorabilia is everything the ladies have ever signed for me, the memory of Natalie’s dedication, and Martie waving at me from the stage in Hamilton. I was in the third row and wasn’t sure if she actually was waving at me until I asked her on twitter, and yes, she confirmed it:)
What was your first concert ever, the last concert you’ve seen and what will be the next? Haha…My first concert ever was M.C. Hammer, the last concert I attended was Grace Potter, and the next will be the Chicks!
How many DCX MMXVI shows do you plan on attending? Which ones?
I am attending one of the shows in Amsterdam, and then I will see the ladies in Cincy, Cleveland, Dallas, and Austin.
What’s the furthest you’ve traveled to see a show?
So far the furthest I’ve traveled was to Canada, but ask me again in May and it will be Amsterdam!
If you could tell Dixie Chicks one thing, what would it be?
I just want to thank them for their music and I’m praying that they will consider making another album. When my dad passed away, their music was my therapy and the only thing that got me through that tough time in my life. Natalie was so kind to me during that time and it meant more to me than I could ever express in words to her.
